Very good research into similar texts. Some good research into audience, but could have used graphs to show results. Some good drafts.

Evaluation of my pre-production work:
my magazine develops the conventions of magazines by keeping the masthead at the top of the page, it also develops the conventions, particularly of college magazines by having a picture of their building on the cover and also includes pictures of people on the cover of the magazine. The use of a slogan is also a convention that i have developed in my magazine. However my magazine challenges the conventions of magazines by not including highlights of articles in my magazine on the cover and it doesn't have any seperate images on the cover, also my magazine challenges the conventions of magazines because it does not include a dateline as it is not going to be sold on a widespread basis and just sold within a niche audience.
My Magazine cover represents the school as a school that has plenty of history behind it and has great traditions that go back many years, a school that many great minds have come from that are well-known and respected people.
The media institution that would distribute my magazine would be the school, it would give it to the families of students and even past students and members of staff, to see what has happened in the school over the past year.
the audience for my magazine would be for parents of students, i have tried to attract my audience by keeping the magazine traditional and simple by using an old fashioned font, and keeping the cover and contents page formal rather to inkeep with an adults more intellectual approach to a magazine and including articles that parents would be interested in.
by making this Magazine front cover and contents page my knowledge of adobe photoshop has improved dramatically also the use of photography has been important in producing the product.

When I asked 50 people if they read the Victorian 35 said yes 5 said no and 10 said sometimes.
Then I aked them how they were involved in the College, 20 were students 17 were family members 7 were teachers and 3 were others.
The next question I asked was who the magazine should be aimed at 22 said students and the other 28 said the magazine should be aimed at parents. This means that i shall make the magazine more informative about what has happened over the past year, and that the language i use can be more complex due to the higher intellectual capability odf the target audience
Then I asked what picture the magazine front cover should have. 7 people said sport, 3 said academic, 16 said a student, 14 said the building and 10 said the CCF. This means that i shall use a building on the front of my front cover and may include a student to make the cover more interesting.
I then asked what the colour scheme of the magazine should be, 27 said black and yellow, 6 said red, 2 said blue, 3 said green and 12 said red and yellow. This will mean that i will go with the colour scheme of the school to use in my magazine and shall be used throughout the magazine
When I asked what the type of text should be used in my magazine 7 said bold 22 said italic 18 said serif and 3 said sans-serif. So i shall use an italic font on the cover of my magazine but I shall use a serif font to inkeep with the schools old heritage.
Then I asked where the title should be placed, 33 said at the top of the page, 12 said it should be at the bottom and 5 said it should be in the middle. This shows me that i should place the title of the magazine at the top of the page
Then I asked what should be included in the magazine, answers included house information, CCF information, events, awards, sport, new arrivals and new features, i shall include as many of these things in my magazine to make the magazine more interesting and more diverse to the readers.
I asked if the magazine contents page should incorporate the colour of all the houses in it, all of the people I asked said that it should be included, this means I shall try and incorporate the colours into the headlines or the different features of the magazine.
Finally I asked who the articles of the magzine should be written by, 12 said students, 17 said members of staff and 31 said that they should be written by both, this means that the magazine will be more diverse and will have levels of depth that could not be shown if the articles were written by one or the other

- Articles based on why this college is the best at what they do
- use of several colours to attract readers
- the Masthead is seperated from the rest of the magazine
- the main picture is not of a peron but of a building
- the largest text on the cover is not the masthead it is a key word that would most appeal to the students of Boston College

Because my magazine cover will be for my college i will now look at this college magazines conventions:
- Masthead - in the largest font for readers to identify the magazine easily in a store
- Interesting Articles for attracting readers
- use of several colours to attract readers
- main picture in medium long shot
- articles talk about why they are the best at what it is they do

- Masthead - The largest text on the cover to attract the target audience to this magazine when it is on the shelves in a store
- Main Article is in the next biggest text as to draw the eye of the reader
- Interesting articles to attract the target audience
- price on the cover
- Well known players in larger font or different colour
- Smaller picture of well known player
- Main Picture is a medium long shot rather than a close-up shot
- picture interfears with the Masthead

this magazine is directed at a rugby playing audience it also follows certain magazine conventions:
- Masthead - biggest writing
- Main picture at Medium Close-Up - usually of a famous or well known person
- Main articles in bigger text and bold
- Interesting articles for audience
- Price on cover
- Big names in seperate colour or size text
- Smaller Picture of another well known player
